[Week 20: Water Marbled] Green & Gold + Water Marbling tips

Well, uni is well and truly into full swing again! Please excuse poor tidy up as I haven’t got time tonight to do that as well as complete everything else 😦 but this weeks theme is water marble! Being the olympics, who could pass up a green and gold water marble?! Aussie Aussie Aussie! Oi Oi Oi! The London 2012 Olympics was what originally got me really starting to play around with nail polish, and its crazy to think 4 years later I am now SO LAZY with my nails!

I am so glad I now have Jamberry wraps which I can quickly slap on and go 🙂

Ladies, this took so much effort compared to normal! 😦 I wish I had the time to do stuff like this all the time but with uni, work and other responsibilities, I literally can not justify the time invested in this anymore! Bring on the Jams!

Anyway… This week I have used Jamberry Trushine Gel to apply a quick base, white (in ‘Porcelain’) and top coat – which I set to make dry time quicker and also prepare for any ‘mishaps’ that happened to easily remove that one nail without having to reapply a base.

When water marbling it is always a good idea to have a white base as the colour disperses in the water 🙂 I tried to do this mani Sunday afternoon and after 3 attempts gave up after continually getting bubbles from the water! So hence the good old gel base has been my time saving life saver! I played around with some colour combinations too, and ‘Zest’ and ‘Tropic’ were my winning colours!

Top Tips for water marbling from my nail time poor life?
1. using the gel as a base was a L I F E S A V E R – made any designs that came out I didn’t like so much easier to fix
2. warm water! I actually used my Jamberry heater to slightly warm up my water as it came freezing out of the tap – also, filtered water (or bottled)
3. play around with your colours and different ways of drawing patterns – find your style
4. use tape or vaseline to cover as much skin and make clean up that little bit easier!
5. finally, don’t try to water marble on a time scedule! You just end up frustrated and with paint everywhere ahaha

[Week 17: Glitter] Sweet 16

Sweet 16 is my theme for 2016 🙂 so naturally, I had to use Trushine Gel in Sweet 16 for my glitter week!

This week is an all gel mani! I used Jamberry’s trushine gel kit, using a shade called ‘beauty sleep’ which is so pretty! I am loving the shimmery purple and to really make it glitter, I have done an accent nail with a few coats of ‘sweet 16’ which is a deep purple glitter through a clear gel 🙂 I am not perfect with my gel application yet, but this is probably the best application I have had so far so I am pretty happy!

So, yeah, not going to show you my previous glitter attempt 😛 I look like a toddler who can’t stay within her cuticles!

If gel isn’t your think, Jamberry has a heap of glittery ‘sparkle’ finish wraps! Best part about it? The easy removal! Gone are the days of trying to g e n t l y scrape glitter polish off! To see this pretty glittery wraps, click HERE!

Not going to lie, I am pretty excited for next weeks mani 😉 I have this beautiful half moon wrap which I have been holding onto for a while! In Jamberry world, we call it a unicorn… A retired wrap that is really hard to find so you will have to wait till next week to see it 😉

[Week 15: Delicate Print] Winter Lace

It is mani Monday! Mani done on Monday, blog about it Tuesday, this week I have an exam and coming off being sick my brain is just mush 😦 but at least my nails look great 😉

This weeks mani is using one of last years Christmas exclusives called winter lace, feels pretty appropriate as my hands feel like ice right now! ‘Winter Lace’ is delicate clear wrap which I have layered over the Trushine Gel system in ‘Latte’ (excuse my icy cuticles!)

All I can say, is this took much less time than my 2012 attempt, and looks about 1000x better 😛

[Week 14: Flowers] Smelling (or looking at) Roses

Our family has a saying, ‘smelling roses’ which typically means just going on spontaneous adventures during road trips, like deciding to drive down random roads to see sunsets over a dam, or even to just see where it goes 🙂 I feel like I am in need of an adventure, but I guess I looking at these pretty roses on my nails will have to do this week!

2012 saw me doing a pretty simple blue floral design over a neutral pinkish shade:

I have gone for a similar look this week – except, it looks more perfect 😉 with this neutral grey wrap with red and blue roses.

This weeks wrap is from the style box capsule which is exclusively available to Australian and New Zealand markets. I have used the January 2016 Classic Style Box wrap, ‘Vintage Meets Modern Floral’ and I am in love!!! As usual, I have topped this matte wrap with Jamberry’s Trushine Gel system using the base and top coat 🙂

I hope you are all having a wonderful week, love K x

[Week 13: Animal Print] Shake It Off Round 2

This isn’t the first time I have done this mani, but… it was time to do it again, and the bonus, I still have another full mani out of this sheet!

This week I have used a glossy wrap called “Shake Your Tail Feather” which is a cute white wrap with a peacock feather pattern. For accent nails I added Jamberry Lacquer in Amazon, followed by Trushine Gel Base, 3 coats of Splash and Top Coat.

My first attempt of animal print was a leopard print mani, Jamberry do also offer a leopard print, crocodile, butterfly and my close second, giraffe print, they can be found under the Animal Instincts category 🙂

I just want to show you how you can get 2-3 mani’s out of one sheet!

First application of Shake Your Tail Feather a few months ago

My first application used the left hand side, this week I used the wraps on the right, and I still have enough to do another mani with an accent nail 🙂 hopefully this helps to show how you get a few mani’s out of one sheet!

[Week 11: Polka Dot] Crushing on Polka

I have been feeling a bit stressed and flat the last few days :/ so decided it was time for something bright & fun to get rid of those winter blues!

My 2012 attempt of dots wasn’t tooooo bad, I quite liked this pattern:

This weeks mani is using the April Host Exclusive wrap mixed with Trushine Gel in Crushing on Coral. It makes me feel like I’m going to the circus 🙂

[Week 7: Black & White] Then & Now!

Well, I have had a bit of fun trying to put this mani together… While trying to do the white gel, my budgie decided he wanted to help & was trying really hard to get into my UV lamp… Then, while applying my glitter, I managed to get it over my face because I have a cold at the moment 😦

As I have said before……. I did this as a challenge a few years ago when I was in high school, so I present to you, my previous attempt of black and white!

This week I have used Jamberry’s TruShine Gel in ‘Porcelain’ which is a shimmery white shade. Whites are always hard to get the right texture, and I’m not going to lie & say this was one coat, I used about six really thin coats during this application.

I then used a sponge to apply a second gel called ‘Bachelorette’ which has a pretty slightly greenish glitter. On top of the gel, I have then applied clear matte wrap called ‘Lost Ruins’ if I hadn’t cut my nails last week, would have got a lot more of this textured pattern but hey! It is topped with trushine gel to get that shiny effect from the matte wrap 🙂

30W Black & White

I had a tough time deciding what to do this week. I am much more of a colour girl that black & white but I am still realllllllly happy with how this one turned out 😀 have a great week!
